Homewood Museum and the Johns Hopkins University Archives at the Sheridan Libraries present this workshop on organizing and preserving family photographs. Elizabeth England works extensively with digital photographs as an archivist, and she will explain techniques to manage, store, and preserve pictures taken with cell phones and other digital cameras. She will discuss a variety of topics including best practices for file naming, file formats, organization, and storage options. Jim Stimpert, a photographer for more than 25 years who also manages a large collection of historical images in the University Archives, will talk about traditional photographic prints as well as photo albums and picture frames. He will discuss how to address damage to photos from light, age, and water, and he will offer storage and care options.

The workshop includes all supplies and a question and answer segment for specific care concerns. Participants will receive a small packet of literature with care recommendations and a resource list.
