DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THE PROGRAM\nMusic at Evergreen is Evergreen Museum & Library’s popular and eclectic series of classical music concerts that continues The Honorable John Work Garrett and Alice Warder Garrett’s tradition of presenting intimate performances in their home. The series’s 69th season will begin on November 13 with a performance by clarinetist Narek Arutyunian\, accompanied by pianist Steven Beck and fellow clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein. Selections will include pieces by Bernstein\, Mendelssohn\, and Schoenfield. Purchase tickets at the link below. \nPlease note: These are tickets for a single concert. To purchase subscription tickets for all three concerts in the 2022-2023 Music at Evergreen Concert Series\, click HERE. \n\nABOUT THE ARTIST\nThe Washington Post calls clarinetist Narek Arutyunian an artist who “reaches passionate depths with seemingly effortless technical prowess and beguiling sensitivity.” \nAs First Prize Winner of the Young Concert Artists International Auditions\, Arutyunian was presented in debut recitals in New York at Merkin Concert Hall and in Washington\, D.C.\, at the Kennedy Center to rave reviews. In addition to solo recitals\, he is a frequent soloist with orchestras around the world\, performing with The Boston Pops\, Orchestra of St. Luke’s at Alice Tully Hall\, Prague Radio Symphony\, the Kaliningrad Philharmonic\, the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra\, and the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra\, among others. He also consistently receives acclaim for his educational outreach programs in New York City public schools and around the country. \nBorn in Armenia\, Arutyunian’s family moved to Moscow when he was three. As a teenager\, he won First Prizes in the International Young Musicians Competition in Prague and the Musical Youth of the Planet Competition in Moscow. He graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory as a student of Evgeny Petrov\, received a Bachelor’s degree from The Juilliard School\, where he worked with Charles Neidich\, and then earned a Master’s Degree with Neidich at the Manhattan School of Music on a Leon Russianoff Memorial Scholarship. \n\nSPONSORSHIP\nThe Music at Evergreen concert series is made possible by the Evergreen House Foundation.
