  • When can I take a tour of the gardens and grounds?

    Self-guided tours of the gardens and grounds are available during regular operating hours, Tuesday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The museum’s gate is locked promptly at 4 p.m. each day.

  • Does it cost money to take a tour of the gardens and grounds?

    No, self-guided tours of the gardens and grounds are free.

  • What will I see on the tour?

    The tour surveys the exterior of Evergreen Museum & Library; its lawns, terraces, and formal gardens; the exterior of the property’s original Carriage House; and views of meadows, wetlands, and woods. It provides an overview of how the landscape of the property was changed over time to suit the needs and tastes of its owners. A tour takes about 30-40 minutes to complete.

  • Is the tour available if it’s raining/snowing or otherwise inclement weather?

    Tours are weather-dependent and may be curtailed, postponed, or canceled at the discretion of the museum staff. If you have a question, call the museum for the most up-to-date information (410-516-0341).

  • Is the tour fully accessible?

    Portions of the tour are accessible, but the full tour requires walking on uneven surfaces and climbing stairs. To request accommodations, please email museums@jhu.edu or call the museum at 410-516-0341.

  • How can I see inside the museum?

    Evergreen Museum & Library can only be experienced through a docent-led tour. Tours are available Tuesday-Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. They begin on the hour and last approximately 75 minutes, with the last tour of the day departing at 2 p.m. To confirm daily tour availability, please call the museum at 410-516-0341.

  • Can I bring my dog?

    Only registered service animals are allowed on-site.

  • Can I bring food/drinks?

    You may bring your own water, but a carry-in/carry-out policy is in place. Please no food.
